Lila Whelan is a professional writer with experience in stage plays, audio dramas, the occasional screenplay and a couple of moderately cringy teenage diaries (not available for public consumption).
She trained as a journalist in 2009 and could not get a job when the recession hit so turned to the theatre as a much more reliable source of employment. Following a stint at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, she went on to win commissions from Tacit Theatre and Big Finish, and is the resident writer for Sprocket which is why she's snuck her CV on here.
She likes writing character-driven plots that are dark, funny, twisty-turny and moving. Once in a while she endeavours to sneak in some romance while nobody's looking. In the future she hopes to write something her nieces and nephews won't be traumatised by, but suspects this will may take a while.
