Mary and Bob have set up home following the end of the world, each with their own feelings of loss, guilt and smouldering hope.

Passionate lovers and mortal enemies, the pair believe themselves to be the sole survivors of The Wave and try desperately to accept their new reality - and each other.

But just before they hit breaking point their lives are changed forever when a knock at the door delivers them the beautiful and mysterious Ruth - a stranger who brings with her a wave of hope, and yet more burning guilt.
